Urgent reply Needed - Best E320 Michellin tires?

14 months ago, friend of mine bought my W210 E320 with some pretty new S03 tires on it. Now, he told me two of the tires have "bubbles" on the surfaces. So I suggest he should get Michellin PS/2 235 , as S03 are well known to be not durable.

We need all weather tires here as Winter is dry (no snow) and Summer is always heavy rain.

Questions:-

1. PS/2 235 are not cheap , I am using it now for high performance. What is the Michellin tires one grade below the PS/2 best for the E320?

2. If PS/2 is used on the E320, is there any performance degradation which is noticable? Assume use the same stock size 235 17". I really prefer PS/2 if it goes well on the E320, any user experience?

Need urgent reply as my friend is going to do the replacement tommorrow

many thanks

cnt

i like viewing the reviews from Tire Rack as well as Epinions and 1010tires....
though there may be others. There are tons of comments and after a while,
it's like NYears and overload on football/bowl games. TR allows filtering to
make/year

I have found the Michelin Pilot MXM4 to be a very good tire.

Call Luke @ Tire Rack. He can recommend the right tire for you. I am currently running summer Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Very happy with them, however they are crap on anything but dry or wet pavemen. ANYTHING frozen and you are skating. As soon as they are worn out, will be switching to Pirelli M+S as recommended by Luke. Much, much less expensive than Michelin.

Thanks guys.
Not sure if this makes sense, friend of mine saying that for heavy cars like the big MBs, it is better to use European tires as they are designed for heavy loading. This is why I will not use Japanese tires again for MBs/BMWs.
Incidentally, it was also the first time I heard this, my friend's W210 's S03 have grown some "bubbles" on two tires on the right side.

I am using PS2 but we dont have ice roads in HK :p so I guess it is ok
PS2 is the first choice except it is more expensive.

Go with the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V or LS-Z Tires. Another good tire of choice would be the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the MIchelin Pilot MXM4. All are great choices, but if you are looking for comfort, smooth ride, quiet ride, and a sporty ride when needed go with the Turanza LS-V or LS-Z.

There are mixed feelings on the PE2 but I couldn't be happier with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. A lot stickier than the factory Conti Sport. Improved cornering speed and tightened up steering response without trade off in ride. Excellent choice though PS2 is best on dry and S03 is best on dry + wet.

Good luck.

I have ps2's on my 210 they wear out real quick, and are overrated. The handiling is awesome but the ride is jarring and uncomfortable, even on the freeway. I would give up some handiling for a better ride hence the contisportcontact 2's.
