w210 projector style/retrofit project

well since the car's being worked on at the shop i am buying a set of projectors that fit my years car instead of the ones that i moded to fit mine and were off by a little.......anyways here is the thing. I was thinking of doing the projector refrofit but its been so long and i've been out of the loop that i forgot how it all went....

i have my old ones to practice on i guess so i will swing by my shop to get them and try them out....

question is for you that have done this is what projectors did ya'll go with and what ballasts/bulbs as well....

from what i read the rs6 ones fit but one guy was selling ones that were 2-3/4in and i think there small but not sure.....

other then that what instructions do i need to actually do this project and last but not least i'm keeping my theme of black/white on my car but wanted to change things up by getting the black projectors.....

what do you guys think??

I saw the black out one, somehow they don't look as nice as the chrome one, but that's personal choise. If you can find a shop that let you try out different version of light in your car, that would be best.

For projector, anything would fit. However, if you go with either the E55 or RS6 bi-xenon, that would require least amount of work, since they are similar size with the projector that Depo use in the headlight. Not to mention that the shroud would fit in nicely.

I have the Lexus LS430 (2 1/2") for my headlight, took me forever to fabricate the housing/mount the the projector and shroud. If possible, you want to use the existing mount & housing of the Depo headlight, unless the projector is really superior, or you just want to try out the challenge. The housing & mount have to be really really rigid, to handle all the vibration & shock during the car moving, at the same time allow the ability to be adjusted. That's why going with the E55/RS6 and re-use the existing Depo housing/mount helps.

For the ballast, from what I've seen, ones like Denso (from Lexus), Mitsubishi (from Acura TL) won't trigger lamp failure when you turn on the light. I think the Hella Gen-3 also won't trigger light message. It's PITA to see lamp msg, and lot of ballast out there trigger the error warning, though they all work in turning on the xenon light.

If you want best light, go with Philips/Osram D2S 4300K, if you want nice color, go with Philips Ultinon, quite pricey thought ($250-300/pair)

Actually, they weren't on a car but rather on a freestanding display. I think blk units would look good on your car...along with your theme.

Hummmm, locally???? Really, Roger at Autodynamic can't get a set? How about ProCarParts (626.656.2900)? Or contact DEPO USA (Maxzone), speak with Galen - (909.822.3288), perhaps he can locate a local source.

Like I said, anything thing would work in the W210 headlight, since the housing is quite large, and can accomodate anything. However, for least amount of work and get the best result, I think that the RS6 is the best out there. The eBay deal you sent to me is good. I have also bought lot of part from that person (Alex), just tell him that Huy is SoCal refer you, his email is onemean6_at_optonline.net , you should be able to get better deal than the one posted on eBay

I checked, and Depo only make the chrome version. The black and other color is from other Taiwan manufacture (Eagle..), copycat the ...Depo version. I had chance to check them out before, and the quality is not as good as the Depo one. So again, it's up to you.

If you want a good combination of light & color, ad a washer into the RS-6 shield, that will give your headlight a good bump in color. If you want to, we can arrange to meet, and I can add a washer for you. As always, the Philips or Osram 4300K will give you the most light, a 5000K Philips will probably get the light a bit whiter, and still remain bright. Anything over 6000K is mostly just color, not much brightness (it's foreground light only, good for show, but not much useful in driving at night)

You got new wheels again Mikey or are those the old FAMG's?

AutoSave Crystal Evolution 7000K H3's are bluish/purplish - they last and won't break your budget.
