don't waste your time cutting the rotors just replace them.
They warp easly after cutting. Rotors are cheap go to www.importescarparts.com

The minimum thickness is stamped on the "hat" section of the rotor.

Brakes/Rotors problem

I got a brake job, new pads/rotors in June 2005. 1 month later, vibration when braking, took back,, they said the rotors are warped. They machined them. This has happened three times now,, about every 2 months. Now they tell me I need ANOTHER brake job, new rotors!!!! Ive only put 3,000 miles on this car since the brake job, is this normal??

No at all.

Unless your living on top of a mountain and constantly braking on the way down you should get close to 25,000 - 30,000 miles on a set of front brake pads. The rears should last a lot longer.

if you have bad calipers , it can cause you to warp your rotors and use up your pads prematurely. When the caliper piston doesnt retract after you take your foot off the brake pedal, the pads are wearing out and your rotor is overheating and then it finally warps , this can happen even faster when you hit a puddle of water after the rotors get hot.
