$1200 installed for a rear sunshade??!!? WTF?
Man, the stealership is at it again...I took my car to have them look at it and MAN! I couldn't believe it! I just figured it needed to be cleaned and re-greased. I can fix it my damn self...the door sills are $580 installed...WTF?!?!?! Unbelievable...I told them to look at my transmission, since I know it will be covered under my Starmark warranty. I am just glad that I had that warranty, otherwise, I'd be crying!

Stealer' you can not let them rob you
Stealer are the same in my area also. Any service you ask them for, they always try to rob you. I can not believe it $1200 for rear sunshade, this is rip off.
Recently I did 2 brake jobs, 2 phone kit install and oil change, I save my self at least $1500.

How much do you think the rear sunshade should cost? There is another thread that indicated the cost of the sunshade alone is at least $400. The rear parcel shelf must be replaced, wiring, switches and labor added. $1,200 seems high to me too but what is the real cost?

2001 E320 RWD - Brilliant Silver/Ash: 100,000+
My used E430 already had one installed, and I really like it (so far, no problems). I think it's hard to tell how much they should cost alone because the ones I've noticed on the new cars all seem to be a part of one of the premium packages.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupé
I recently bought the MB manual rear sunshade and the matching sunshades for the two (fixed) rear side windows of my 2002 w208 CLK 55 AMG coupe . Cost of these parts was about $250 total. The instructions for the rear sunshade recommended that the dealer do the install since location and clearance is tricky. It might be more straightforward on the E class.
My "stealership" would not give me an upfront estimate of the labor involved. For accesories it "depends". Figuring it would reasonably take two hours total, I feared a rip-off coming. I was pleasantly supplied when they installed all three sunshades -- in one hour. It sure helps to know what you are doing and to work in a two man team.
I am pleased with the result. The rear sunshade is very easy to raise and lower and looks factory (which it is). The side ones are a bit more of a bother since the rod itself must be removed if you don't want shade. Otherwise they dangle when you release the velcro strap.
Overall, the shades protect the back seat as well as would deep window tinting. But the shades have the virtue of being reversible. I have a designo interior with exclusive leather so I sometimes I want people to see into the car!
Best of all, with these manual shades no electric gremlins need apply.
