E430 , E500
98 Mb

Mike;

I got 2000 E430, so far no major problem with 82k. It depends on the price....98 should cost no more than 10k. What you should be concern was, make sure maintenance was done by the dealer or a reputable european technician.

thanks for the replies guys, i was just wondering what were the usual issues , cause i owned a 95 e320 coupe few years back, and i remember the headgasket and wire harness were usuall issues to be addressed.
anyway, the price is not bad but i will know for sure tomorrow when i see the car. i will post pictures tomorrow if i buy it.

I would go ahead and plan to put new front lower control arm bushings and new motor mounts on the car very soon (if the current owner has not recently completed this).

88K on a mercededes 113 motor is nothing if it has had regular oil changes.
Good Luck

Hi Mike,
By now you've either bought, or not bought, that 98 E430. FYI: I bought my E430 - mileage 118k w/o sport options from a local M-B dealer nearly 1 year ago. There were a couple of minor problems, and they split those repairs 50/50 with me (sunroof, external rearview mirror, cup holder). The radio volume control was also bad, and I had that replaced with a re-conditioned one - also using M-B dealer. It passed a B Service with nearly flying colors (tech suggested flush/replace brake fluid, which I had done). Other than these quirks, and replacement tires, everything is still fine with 123k miles.
Hope this helps,
Musikmann
