Having fittment issues putting monoblock 2's on my 98 E320.
The wheels are 18x9's.

Are you trying to use 18x9 up front? If so, that is only for the rear. The front is a 18x8.0 et31. You should be using:

18x8.0 et31 235/40/18
18x9.0 et35 265/35/18

What are the off-sets or ET numbers on the wheels you are trying to put on? Are they off of an E-Class, SL or an S-Class originally. Like was said, 18x9s are for the back. Sounds like you got 4 back wheels. If you had a 4Matic, then you can go with 18x8s all around. ET31 or ET35 is what they should say on them.

Despite what you heard, even though the 18X9's are for the back, they will fit on the front as well. Im running 18X9 monoblocks front and back, 235/40/18, no modification required. If youre rubbing, than your tire is too wide, go with smaller tire.

These wheels are off an S55 but apparently werent/arent the original wheels.
The tires are all 245/45ZR18's.
Also the bolt patterns are a bit off. The friend that gave me these wheels said he had to have the Monoblocks on his other MB honed to fit correctly.

The offset is way off. That is why they won't fit. An 8.5" width wheel needs about a low 30-35 offset or so to fit in the front.

Worse, those wheels have the wrong lug bolt seat for your car. They were designed for a 14 x 1.5mm R14 bolt. Your car uses 12 x 1.5 R12 bolts.

To get these wheels to work, you'd need at least a 10mm spacer to clear front end parts AND you need to get 12 x 1.5 R14 bolts (www.otisincla.com).

Recommend you sell the wheels and get the right Monoblocks for your car rather than resorting to spacers, etc. You may also need 235/40/18 tires...don't know if the 245s will fit that wide of a wheel on a E320/E430 without rolling the fender like the E55.

I agree, if you look at the Lorinser wheel (one of the 3 piece models), there is one size that is specifically 18x9 all around.

18x9 supposedly fits.

How long of a shank for the new lug bolts?
