1997 E320
update: my 1997 E320 has just crossed 310000km or 192Kmiles. Just did the head gasket at a friends shop and the report is that everything looks perfect! The bores are perfect, minimal wear on the pistons and he was very impressed with the casting job that Mercedes did back then.
The car has been in my care for the past 100K miles and 6 years later its still an amazing car to drive, superbly reliable and with the good news on the engine, it looks like the old girl will be with us for a long long time.

since i got over the maintenance "hump" its been an excellent car.

The easiest car to own; except when it comes to little annoyances like driver side srs switch; or transmission flooding the computer with trans fluid.

little rust
runs well, inside like new
1 fussy rich owner, no expenses spared
$23K in repairs NOT including mercedes maintenance/warranty work
no tranny work, no engine work just repeated little silly $$$ things
religious oil changes, runs great, just a little lazy shifter but Im a
patient guy NOT going to race this car

I've got the usual head gasket leak, (minor oil in the coolant and weeping from the back of the engine) and plan replace that sometime soon. Other than that, she runs like a champ. Just changed the transmission fluid/filter and serviced her all the way around. Could use some suspension work done soon, too.
Planning to drive her from Atlanta to Orlando for vacation in a couple of weeks. That'll be the ultimate test of loyalty.

Update...E320 1998 Sedan, 215K miles and going. She is in pretty good condition, things needed:
Getting a check engine electronics, as of last week. Pulled codes and says:
Possible bad gas cap
Possible bad fuel level sensor
Possible bad fuel solenoid
Starting at cap, which needs replacing anyway, and taking it over to indy shop. Otherwise, she is running like a top.

My 98 E320 has a whopping 82K original miles. I bought it with 77k and have only owned it for close to a year. Car was used as a second car before me and barely driven. Can't beat low mile clean cars I have had no issues and so all I do is change the oil frequently and enjoy my car to the fullest!

1998 E320 4-Matic Wagon
My 98 W210 4Matic wagon just turned 191,000. This is the first car I have ever had that I can exceed the EPA estimated fuel mileage. The worst mileage I have ever had in town has been 16. I usually get between 18 and 19.5. On the highway, the worst I have gotten was somewhere around 24 mpg. The best has been 26.9. I typically drive +5 to the speed limit in town or on the highway. The 26.9 was with the cruise set at 77 MPH.
