not to drive it when it's wet out, which means not much in Seattle. I ride the
scooter, 1200cc scooter, or the 4x4 most of the time and baby and work on
small E320 projects. next is single DIN DVD and back up camera

I have been enjoying the current drought of rain we are experiencing and putting the sun roof back!
Also a single din and backup camera sound cool so keep me posted. Did those E55 wheels go right on or did you have to do any spacers/mods?

Milage
I own 1998 e320 with 405,000 km on the clock and I cannot believe how great this car is (value for $). I drive this car every day and it is still very strong and reliable. The car is great but Canadian winters have taken their toll and rust is becoming an issue. I am thinking of buying another one (w210) or upgrading to a newer model ( maybe an 03 or 04) but not sure if they are as reliable.

97 E320 132K whatamachine
This is the 1st Merz I've ever owned, in fact the 1st car with so many miles on it I ever bought. This one nearly 125K at purchase. Of course I did some research before hand and considering what I learned, how perfectly it runs and shifts, and its the cleanest 15 year old I've ever seen. (the engine and drive-train so clean you could lick it) I must admit my only apprehension was that which I couldn't see. So like all else I own, its getting Amsoil in this case there new full SAPS euro 5w40, Mann filter, propylene glycol coolant (after a good flush) and as soon as my dipstick "tool" gets here the best trany fluid... unfortunately Amsoil doesn't have a recommendation....do any of you fine people have an informed favorite...................I also understand this 12/97 has the last of the bullet proof in-line 6s, yet the new 4 plus overdrive or 5 speed electronic trans...hmmmm... best of both worlds? what do you all think? Oh..! I did replace my clutch fan but only because it looked oily and possibly low on silicone oil ( cant take chances in Calif, San Joaquin valley temps) also my passenger side mirror won't move inward......Drivers seat got stuck yesterday, would only slide forward and then back about an 1/8th and stop.....any ideas?....I ran it forward and hand assisted it back and wa la.

Year:2002
Model: E320
Country: USA
Mileage: 121k
Comments: It rides really great! But in response to the OP saying that these were built like tanks, I might have to disagree a little bit! My W140 has outlasted my W210 in so many ways. The interior plastics are so much cheaper and not nearly as sturdy as the W140, and the paint quality on the W140 is so much better than the W210. The W140 only started to slightly peel after 17 years of hard driving, and the W210 started peeling around 10 years into its life. I feel like anything during Daimler-Chrysler (1998-2007) just went to crap.

E430 mileage report
Year: 1999
Model: E430
Country USA (Seattle)
Mileage 99,800 (apparently I am the only one actually driving the car!!)
Comments: Extremely reasonable gas mileage (+28 on trips) plus smooth ride but scary at 110 MPH with body movement.

Your car should be planted at that low speed (for a German sedan). You might want to check for worn suspension components.

However, your comparison of paint quality is not really indicative that the 210 has significantly better paint quality than your 140 either. The age at which the paint peels is not necessarily indicative of the quality of the paint but could be of the differences in how the car was used/stored.

A few minor interior problems such as damaged steering wheel undercover, leather scuffs and missing electric seat switches. I'm hoping to fix and buy the necessary parts ASAP if I can find them locally

My Three Spoiled Step-Children
1992 300E 4MATIC Midnight Blue (253,000 miles) (retired from being a 4MATIC a few years ago - engine still runs flawlessly - NEEDS front driver axle, some glasswork, blower motor, brakes, leaks some oil - gets about 23 mpg) (not sure what I am going to do with it);
1992 400E Midnight Blue (150,000 miles) (purchased recently from a friend - NEEDS radiator, fan, fan clutch and belt, rotors on top, and brakes) (not sure what I am going to do with it, but I fully expect it would easily run 100,000 more miles as with the 300E);
2000 E430 4MATIC Silver (119,000 miles) (recent purchase looks almost brand new) NEEDS me to drive it more, period.

Just about to turn 402,000 miles on my 1995 E300D
402,000
I found this thread while poking around today. I doubt that I have THE highest mileage, but it's probably one of the higher ones.
The engine is original, with the exception of a valve job done at about 310,000 miles due to external coolant seepage. Amazing car...
