2006 E320 CDI
Just purchased a 2006 E320 CDI with 136,000 on her and another car for my daughter (old Lexus) with the money I am getting from the VW settlement buyout and will have some money left over. Hope she (the CDI, not my daughter) goes for a while because I tend to pile 30k or more miles per year on my daily driver.

Remember to set aside about $3,000 a year in maintenance. Some years will be more some less. With 30k a year I would guess $3g will be about right. Don't deffer maintenance or you will regret it.
This car will give you many many years of great service!!!

Just turned 190K - can't tell you how strong this drivetrain is, tremendous reliability everyday. Interior, creaking, windows going up and down, another question but she continues to motor smoothly down the road.

12 years later I've been more than satisfied!

Just turned 200,000 miles (321,868km) yesterday. 2002 E430 I returned from an 850 mile road trip. Averaged 26.1mpg total. The car just loves the highway and is perfectly smooth at 90+mph. It amazes me how effortlessly it accelerates at high speeds.

Beautiful car! Mine is racking them up! It just turned over 73k miles! I'm taking it to Florida at the end of the week, so we'll be stretching its legs a bit!

Thanks for the compliment! It's a California car and in a previous life was Star-Mark..or CPO...whatever they called it. Always garaged and almost no rust except a very tiny bit around the sunroof. Yours is just a baby with lots of life.

My advice...make sure the transmission connector is changed so fluid doesn't run up to the TCU. I've had to change the rear shocks at 180k miles, the control arms, new front rotors and pads (cheap) a few times and make sure the tires are balanced perfectly. I spent more time, money and frustration with a mild vibration that I thought was the rims or the flex shaft or alignment. Even the dealer never balanced the tires perfectly like an indie did. I also highly recommend the BF Goodrich (don't know the model off hand...I'll report back if you want to know) tires over the (3 sets!) of Continentals I had used. BFG wear longer, are quieter and perform well.

I change the oil every 6-8000 miles with a Mighty-Vac...so easy and I know only Mobil 1 goes in. It burns about a quart every 5000 miles, and I can live with that. I condition the leather 3-4 times a year and have polished the headlights a few times. Other than that, the car has been amazing. I honestly believe it will go another 50,000 miles with no issues.

Wow! I'm assuming original engine with no rebuild, right?

Yep no motor work except doing the timing chain around 300,000. No tranny work at all. Original injectors and second set of glow plugs . I change the oil around the 10,000 mile mark , not super fussy about being exact on that cause the miles I do are huge , sometimes 1000 in a day and while working at least a couple of hundred . These diesels just love the long hauls . I have an R320 CDI now and have 200,000 on that , it's not half the vehicle as the E300 but still does the job .
Oh and my E300 has been hauling an 800 pound trailer around the whole time I'm working as well as the car itself being loaded to the gills .

Will it last forever?

Year:2001
Model: E430
Country: USA
Mileage: 274,000
Comments: I bought this car in October of 2000 and have never stopped loving it.

I have had the following non-maintenance/recall/warranty items replaced: multiple rear window regulators, central vacuum locking pump, a/c blower, a/c condenser, a/c evaporator core, a/c compressor, fuel pump, radiator, harmonic balancer, battery, motor mounts, transmission mounts, main seal, water pump, shocks, head light wire harness, driving light wire harness, all tail light bulb sockets, o2 sensors, crankshaft position sensor, and camshaft position sensor.

I am currently experiencing issues with the climate control system.

Other than that, the car still accelerates like a rocket ship and stops on a dime!

Still looks good too!

I had a minor fuel leak ($2 hose replacement). Aside from that, routine oil changes every 3k miles-that's about it

2nd w210:

Year: 1999
Model: E320
Country: US
Mileage: 116,000
Comments: Some minor issues-MAF, window regulator, usual bulbs burning out, etc. Harmonic balancer was replaced by my mechanic before the recall/notice, but it was reinspected recently by MB and found to be fine. Between the two cars, I prefer the diesel any day of the week
Do you still have the e320 how/where is your mileage now? How does the car run?
