So on the Fogs - Why not just retro the lens?

So on the Fogs - Why not just retro the lens?

Or is that the problem - no clear Bosch lenses?
Has anybody tried retrofitting the cheapo offshore clear lens (fogs) onto the OEM Bosch units?
Keep the Bosch internals, but replace the lens.

Anyone, anyone.......

the OEM reflectors themselves look like crap, and aren't noticably so when a
fluted lens is in front of it. though, as a unit, the light performance is actually,
quite good. but remove it, put on a crystal clear lens and you will see behind
it, a somewhat frosty, abbreviated reflector. Compare this with the Taiwan
aftermarket model: though it is equipped with a clear lens, nice full polished
reflector.....the light performance sux.

End result is that you'll have a clear lens, but you see ugly behind it.

Ahhhh, kinda like looking at Condoleeza Rice with near-beer goggles on huh?

So you're not up for any new science projects Ray?

...or Halle Berry flat chested and is dumber than a stump. Sure, we'll still go out
with her and put her on our bumper....but it's all flash and hardly any function.

p.s. popped the fluted lens off. i dont think it'll look that good to see this
beneath the lens. whereas, with the crystal clear model, the reflector is
highly polished, and extends to the extreme edges ...where the gray area
is in the photo. too bad the idea isn't viable. we would have been able
to blend both form and function.....espec seeing as how the offshore/
aftermarket lens has terrible (terrible) vertical adjustment gearing.

Tried to find the specific article on Google to verify the specifics, but couldn't find it. Something like: Condoleeza was recently ranked the number one female that most men would like to take on a dinner date.

Of course, most of us probably didn't get to vote in that poll. Hillary was in the top five too...

I saw what happens when you do the same thing on a W203. It was blinding to say the least. The light output of the clear lens on the old fog was HUGE.

yeah, after i shoehorned in the HID into the headlight shell, you can't even tell
that the fogs are on. yes, they're just for looks now but i got to admit, they
look great with the clear lens, even turned off.

I'm doing a E55/Bix/Ultinons retro, going with LED cities, in Amber but I also ordered Superwhite in case I don't like the color. I still need to pick up the Depo's, they are the last remaining item.

With the BIX on the Depo - doesn't that leave the H7 socket open since the high beam lead goes to the Bix solenoid? How much more of current draw would be on the city BA9s base wire if it was ran to the H7 socket? A Silverstar in the city, running fulltime would be pretty bright?

On the fogs ~ I've used them ZERO times since owning the car. I just like to know stuff is there (kinda like G2 painted red calipers, hidden behind Aero Monoblock's II). I'll just go with some clear ones and play around with LED colors.
