Engine Swap from M104 to M113 V8

hey guys just wanted to know out of curiosity what are the chances of succesfully transplanting a M119 (4.3 V8) onto a W210 Chassis with a M104 powerplant. Say for instance I found a V8 could I be able to do that??

You are better off putting the 3.6L inline 6 from the C36 in. There was a wecked one for sale on ebay some time back. The 3.6L has the same HP as the 4.3 V8 and is the same M104 engine that you have. There were a few E36 models made and they had the same C36 inline engine in them but never imported to the US. That would make it unique here.

I could have bored and stroked my engine to get the output of the 3.6 but I wouldn't get much of a V8 feel in it.

BTW can a M113 5l V8 from a W220 S500 fit under the hood of a W210 in terms of engine bay size?

That's what you think... Drive a C36 and see. If you need more, go buy a W210 E55. Brabus fit a V12 under the hood of a W210. The W210 E430 and E55 came with V8s so they will fit. If you have a donor car and a shop, you can do a lot with the W210.

hehe I would love to drive any of those vehicles, too bad they're not so easy to find in this part of the world

DO the V8s have anything different from the I6 or V6s such as tranny or wiring and any other stuff I missed out??

other than that I don't think finding a donor car will be too hard as long as the engine is intact

Motor mounts, exhaust headers, control modules and wiring to name a few differences. There was a C36 donor car in Texas but it had 145K miles on it so for me it was not worth swapping. Have to look on ebay at the wrecking yards that sell parts. A lot of times they are parting out the whole car and have the engine plus parts. Maybe they will cut you a deal once they sell off all the small parts.

thanks for the details E-Klasse but I think the only modifications MB added to the engines were the new long blocks, heads, and supercharger

did I miss anything out or is that all the modifications done to a stock M104?

You might want to look in to buying a E430 or E55 since they are not as expensive as they use to be but doing one of your swaps would be unique.

these vehicles are very hard to find around here in Bahrain especially the E55s as they weren't popular sellers
