E300 ipod kit?
I wanted to install an ipod kit for my mom for her birthday and I was wondering if there is a solution that gives higher fidelity music than the tape option or the iTrip. Any help will be greatly appreciated. BTW it's a 1997(6?) E300D...

you can install a wired modulator and install the ipod in the ashtray. There is also the Ice-Link which connects to the cd-player input and allows the ipod to be controlled over the CD-Changer interface. I think its called the Dension Ice-link.

However the by going with the Ice-Link she would be unable to listen to music with her Cd player as well am I correct? She doesn't want to give up her cd player for her ipod. What is the wired modulator option? Can you be more specific. Thanks.

in my 2000 E320 and it did not work. I reported it to them. The thing needs special amps in he speakers, not all MB have them.
Finally the best and cleanest solution was a new stereo. Lots of easy drop ins with plug/play adapters for MB wiring. Now I have a hardwired (aux input) for my XM Myfi, a USB port installed in the glovebox for iPod, and still use CDs. The AM/FM tuner is better.
I bought a Kenwood (dont remember model number) and had considered an Alpine. Also have a 300W subwoofer in the trunk wired to the stereo with power directly off the batt under the back seat.
Anyone want to buy an OEM MB Stereo and trunk mounted 6 CD changer?

mine is a 99 and has the fiber optic system. Just got an email from Bipes that it will not work with my fiber optic bose system. Now what?? Such a waste to have an ipod if I can't use it in my car.

The tape decks are preety clear.. a little more clear then itrip. You don't have to hard wire unless you can REALLY tell the difference which I don't lol.

That's why I installed an Alpine 9856 so I can use my ipod in my car. The install was pretty simple if you use one of the threads on this board.
