Question Questions

Hey ghaffar, nice found you have there. Couple questions though.
1. I don't think this is a one size fits all taillight. There should be a pre-face lift 96-99 and a face lift 00-02 versions.
2. Does this LED taillight still have the rear fog light function? (Brighter on the left side)
3. Does it have a resistor so it won't have a bulb error message at the dash?

Could you ask the sellers about these questions? Thanks

Jon

I can't see why 00-02 tail light can't fit into 96-99?

If you search around previous discussions, the mounting points and the shape of 96-99 is different than 00-02.

Hi. Here's the answers to your questions:

1. No, it's not one size fits all. However, many have retrofitted the face-lift tailights with a little modification.
2. Yes, it should...I don't see why not. I believe we can still put the bulb in there.
3. Yes, it should have the resistors built-in. Even the 'old' BMW-clear lenses-style has them in there.

Hope this helps.

Hey Ghaffar,

So, is this LED taillight made base on 96-99 or 00-02? I have a 02 so I would like to know if I can just slap it on or if modifications are needed.

For the Rear Fog light: From what i understand, it actually shares with the parking light. If you take a look at the stock taillight, the light on the left is brighter when you pull the rear fog light switch. That's done within the same bulb. So once you upgrade to LED tail, is the left side going to be brighter when you turn on the rear fogs? That's my concern. I hope you understand what I meant. Thanks!

with the old LED Tails the Rear foglight gets brighter, i do not think there is a bulb in the other rear fog light.

There is a resistor built in its a big box that is connected by a couple wires to the tail lights, they fit pretty easily into the trunk tail light cut out.

Not as of yet...My car is still in the shop...so no install until next week. I hope they're not defective. There's some scratches, but I will buff them out. I'm so excited!

Cool stuff...let me know if there's any "grey" from the inner plastic showing, so that I can paint in advance .

Thumbs up Got mine too!!

The only down side to this tail light is that it's not as bright as the ones on W211 w/ appearance pkg. Oh well, it's worth the price for the clear assembly

ENJOY!

I finally got mines in :D

It was a bit of a battle...I had to use my Dremel to make the holes to accomodate the mold's discrepancies. Then, one of the inner tail lights cracked...yes, I said cracked because it had come undone...cheap Taiwanese stuff...I'll see what I can do about getting that replaced since I didn't put it on any different than the others. And I installed my LED license plate bulbs (from superbrightleds.com) with the load resistors (man, those resistors get HOT!). IMO, all of these components clean up the look of the rear end.

<IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/mobile_detailing/LED/lights010.jpg">

<IMG SRC="http://www.geocities.com/mobile_detailing/LED/lights011.jpg">

And since like 6 people got a W210 in this town after I showed up for grad school here last year, I'd figure I'd make mine different. Let me know what you guys think.
