rwd E430+snow tires in snow?
Obviously it won't handle the white stuff like a 4matic, but do you think that this would work out well with some extra weight in the trunk? Lets say in less than 6 inches of snow.
with a decent snow tire, there is no reason these cars should be bad in snow.
any experiences?
Thanks,
Oliver

RB, I found a nice 430 at Globe Motor Cars in Fairfield, NJ. its a 99, the interior is perfect (the exterior champagne, which is sorta meh), and the price is pretty good.
Im thinking the non 4matic may be the way to go. Its cheaper, and its less complex, so there is less to break.
its also been serviced by globe, so they have all the records.

I don't have dedicated snow/ice tires for my 210 but I've got Blizzaks for my 124. Basically I'm trying to keep the 210 out of the salt. You'll benefit from dedicated snow tires even if it's RWD. Remember, AWD only helps when you're trying trying to move or already moving. When braking, it's the tires that count.

I love my "E", but in more than 2-3 inches of snow and the rear end wants to go all over the place, the car gets stuck and won't go uphill... and of course, this is with winter tires (Pirellis).
Actually, it is not that often that I need to drive before the plower has made its run, but suffice to say I've had 2 or 3 scary experiences.

All I can say is that without Blizzaks, I would've been stuck in parking lots and at the curb after parallel parking. The Chicago area experienced a pretty heavy snowfall just after Thanksgiving. Getting around before the roads were cleared wouldn't have been possible with summer tires.

here in Atlanta where we have snow once in a blue moon, my E430 with Michelin Pilot Sport tires wont go up any of the steeper hills we have when there is more than an inch or two on the ground..A bit worrisome , but I try going a different way. Good luck Oliverk
