anyone here put black taillights on their e-class? and , does anyone know if these fit post 2000 models?

Take a Look at The E55 Tail Lites,They are Smoked And Look Great..I Installed them on My 2000 E Wagon and The Lites made A Big Difference! And E55 Lites are OEM. Because If You Break one in a couple of years..The Dealer Will have them..With a Small Company They Might be Gone! Also the OEM E55 Lites are the Same Price as the Aftermarkit Ones..Just My .02

I have had them on order for over 1 year already! The German supplier has to make a new batch apparently. The wait is ridiculous! If you know where I can get a set NOW, please let me know. Otherwise, get in line....

Spray painting is a much cheaper alternative. But it may require some skill or practice. The smoked E55 taillights are around $300.
Ambisonx-you should call around to other dealers. i got mine this summer and it took a week.
007-you can spray any taillight. it is probably NOT legal in CA, but it all depends on the cop and how 'smoked' it looks. if it is lighter and not noticeable, then you probably won't get pulled over.
btw-if anyone wants to experiment with spray painting, i also have my stock taillights for sale...

I think we are confusing the smoked lens tailight with the all-black taillight. The smoked one is available, the all-black is not (to my knowledge). I am not spray painting my car thank you very much! I checked the California vehicle code, and it is not clear if all-black lights are illegal. Probably legal since law was written before these new black taillights. The law states that the taillight must glow red which these do- it is not clear whether the taillights have to look red as well in daylight. I have seem some Jaguars with all black taillights which are stock lights, so I am guessing that it is legal so long as they glow red.

thanks for oem's for sale, but i dont think i'd spray, either. maybe i'll just check out a local e55 or two and see how smoked tails look. btw, did call sl accessories and blacks not in stock. needed to order from germany and he said 3 weeks but i didnt believe him after comments heard here...btw , i may shortly post here on foglight questions , i have a harebrained idea or two on those...
