Need help please

I just installed lighted door sills, I had the battery disconnected over night. Now a bunch of things dont work. Cant lock or unlock the door with the key, or the switch on the dash. Can't open the trunk and such.

I spliced into the wiring under the back seat for the sills. Don't think I knocked anything around back there?

I did have some errors about the ABS and ESP but I cleared that by turning the steering wheel lock to lock. That solved that problem, but I need to be able to lock the car.

Any help would be apprciated.

There is a thread titled "DIY Procedures & FAQ's (updated 02-Dec-06)" Over on the W210 page (not the E55 page) of Benzworld.org it should answer your question.

None of that worked. Again, I installed lighted door sills.

The key starts the car but that seems to be it. I think I might have done something to the locking system becuse it does not work. Also the headrests wont drop and I don't know what else. The remote will not close the windows and such.

I unpluged the lighted door sills to see if that was it but that didn't work. Also, I checked all of the fuses in rhw front and back that were on the card that were to the central locking system and that did not work.

Any ideas anyone. I realy need help with this.

Thanks

Sorry. It sounded like you just needed to resync everything. I know the headrests, windows, ABS, sunroof, remotes, etc seem to do exactly what you describe until you resync them. If that thread didn't help then hopefully somebody smarter then me will help you figure out what is going on.

I also have lighted sills and I did not have any issues. Of course I didn't bother to disconect the battery.

they worked before.
1) disconnected battery for a short time and
2) you introduced illum sills into the system (quality of installation inconclusive)
you reconnected battery
a number of appliances are non-functioning
the theory that the parts need resynching doesnt make sense to me because
even unsynched, they are operational to a degree

unknown is the specifics of your installation and whether (while working in
the limited confines of the door sill and surrounding area) you disconnected
or shorted something out in the process.

unless you can restore to exactly the same condition prior to your install, it's
just grasping at straws and challenging to work through a process of elimination.

another WAG thought: dis/reconnect the battery again and see if it jogs
itself back into a condition that is different. or....disconnect sills, then try
dis/reconnecting battery, and reset resynch parts.

I got it, it turns out that the plug that I disconnected from the vacurm pump (central locking) was not in the whole way and was not operating. After I reconnected it all is well.

Thanks for your answers.

Now if only i could solve the SRS light problem?
