I do not want to do it myself. I do not want to do that at a dealer either. Can somebody recommend a reliable shop? Peninsula area is preferable.

Eazy lube? Psh. My friends cousin had an oil change at one, drained oil, replaced filter, then set him off on his own. Did you catch what didn't happen? They forgot to put the new oil in the car! The motor seized and yes, they did replace it. But IMO do it yourself, so you can be the one to blame for a mistake...I don't like other people touching my car unless they NEED to.

if you don't really want to do it yourself and don't want to bring to MB dealer then maybe you could try Quality Tune up. i used them for my none MB cars though. Good Luck.

Can somebody point to a good link explaining do it youself? The link should explain not only the procedure, also where to get oil (I guess 0W40), and filter. Also if somebody did change at Autobahn motors how is that place from point of a service quality?

that would kick a$$ to have a jiffy lube forget to put oil back in the car and then foot the bill for a new engine. "ah, yeah this was a special E420 that came with the AMG 63 engine in it..... "

on a more serious note, you should find an independent MB mechanic in your area that can offer you better deals, faster turn around and a more concerted effort to retain your business. i don't know any mechanics down there but i'm sure there are plenty.

It changes all the time
Dema,
As a factory trained MB mechanic with 30 years experience, I would never suggest that any Mb owner take their car to any of the chain operated Goofy-Lube places. We have a beautiful 85 300SD in the shop right now that the folks bought only a few months ago. His wife had the oil changed at Midas, and they put the Midas Touch on it for $21.00. They didn't get 20 miles before the engine threw a rod. The specially trained lube technician had slammed the filter top in place, and zipped it down with an air gun not noticing the folded over seal. All the oil was pumped out. The owner had to threaten law suit to get a check. It has taken a couple months of his time and sadly he is getting a used engine to replace the factory rebuild that was destroyed.

We did a diagnostic on a newly purchased 76 450SL yesterday. When the lady made the appointment, I told her we would check the car over thoroughly including the sub-frame for cracks, because it was still covered on warrantee. In the mean time she got new tires and alignment. They saw a crack, welded it, charged her $100.00, and voided her warrantee.

I can highly recommend a shop in Redwood City. The shop is Luxury European and the owner's name is Michael. He is highly trained and skilled. He will treat you right. The # is (650) 368-6910. You will probably need to leave a call back # since he works alone and needs to stay on the job to get the cars out. Good luck Tell Mike Peter from Autozentral sent ya.
