Did you know ....

I was surprised none of my MB owners friends know about this nice little feature that came with the car.

Our remote key can roll up / roll down all the windows and at the same time can open and close the sunroof.

My bad.
From a lock position press and hold open button for a few seconds,
the door locks will pop up and the windows should start rolling down and if you let go everything stops and vice versa.

It's pretty cool

In my experience, for every 4 Mercedes windows I roll down, only 3 roll back up.

i knew about it, but i've noticed that you can only get the windows to go down if you previously had either closed the windows or sunroof with the remote while locking. if i go out to my car and everything is closed up it doesn't seem to work.

I knew about it, but only because the salesman showed me. I might, or might not, have seen that somewhere in the 300 pp. owner's guide!

Lightbulb Maybe 1997 was different

I think either something is wrong, or that feature in 1997 works differently. Just now with everything closed up in the "normal manner" after holding the unlock button for a few seconds the driver's door unlocked (programmed that way) and the windows and sunroof opened.

I showed my neighbours how the windows, sunroof will close with the remote.
They were impressed as none of their hondas or north american cars can do that!

I knew about the feature, I don't recall who showed it to me though...I think with most of the older models if you put the key in the door and hold it as far as it will turn right/left it works the same as the remote key.

my mother has a 95 525i and it does the same thing with hers. Maybe its another feature that they decided to get rid of when they updated to the newer models.

They still have them as far as I know. It's a standard feature with the SmartKey. If it's not working and you have it, try aiming the remote at the door handle and see if it works better.

Our '97 Maxima had this feature to let the interior cool down in the summer. The windows only rolled down though, they didn't roll back up with the remote.

2002 E320 4matic 92K (bought 12/20/06). 2000 E430 4matic (RIP 12/9/06) :(
i've always known the car had this feature but had never tried to use it.

so you just push down on the unlock button and hold it for windows & moonroof to open, and you push down and hold lock to close everything?

About every 6 months someone posts about this feature. Must be about the time ones gets bored and reads the owners manual from cover to cover. I just like that if I forget to close the sun roof panel after I got out of the car, I can do it with the remote while locking the doors.
