Has MB changed recommendation from MB1 0w-40 to 5w-40 for w210 2001?
and to clear some more confusion
In the oil industry patent only granted for 5 years that's why Castrol has 5W40 SLX for Jetta diesel and Mobil has ESP for Bluetec, both oil companies are under contracts to each car makers. when the 5 years was over for Castrol they switch from 5W40 to 5W30 SLX to gain 5 years more at the same time VW changed the recommendations to accommodate the use of Castrol Oil whatever the case is, I do not know if ExxionMobil will follow Castrol leads and do the same.
