Waxing the wood
No, not that wood, I want to remove the wood inlay that surrounds the gear selector, window buttons...and wax it to remove the fine scratches. Yes, I am on a two week vacation.
Question is, do the buttons detach from it simply. I don't want to remove it until I know what it involves. Thanks.
Everthing onconsole then just lifts off, and then you unclip the switch unit from underneath.
The four window switches and the mirror switch are all one unit.
I used Meguiars NXT synth wax due to its high temp resistence. I would love to use a good carnuba but it would quickly melt off with the high interior temp. It polished up very well. The scratches are nearly invisible. Well worth the time. I don't think it will last more than a month but its very easy to do so its worth it to me. Thanks

I know the W210 wood is real, but I don't know how thick it is. Someone was explaining once that MB is very careful to use the wood from the same tree on a particular car so that the grain will match as closely as nature will allow. I wish I could remember where I heard/read that, but I cannot.

Here's the product (or any other hi grade carnauba):

I've got a tiny jar of this stuff that I've had for years. Does an awesome job and is very easy to use. Again, any pure carnauba paste would be comparable if you've already got something sitting on your shelves.
