People spending out of pocket are most likely avoiding getting booted by the insurance co.,if you have a few claims for glass on your policy some insurers will cancel your coverage,so use those claims wisely!

I replaced the windshield in my 99 E320 for less than $300.00. Get a quote someplace. Or not!

I've been with State Farm here in NY for years and have had more than one windshield replaced on my vehicles without having my rates raised at any time. 1990 Audi V8 Quattro, 1985 500SEC, 1990 Mazda Miata....all had full glass with no deductible. If this is a plug for State Farm so be it...the LIE tosses a lot of rocks at you when you drive here...

I found out some time ago from the VMI that my windshield was replaced by the original owner. Thinking it might have been in an accident, I asked the dealer and they didn't know why it had been replaced. I looked at it closely and discovered an LOF logo and "Made in Finland" in the lower right corner. This sure sounds like aftermarket glass to me, so does anyone know what it should say on the glass? FWIW, it has the white MB sticker affixed to it.
