Car is dead and

Car is dead and I can't open the doors.
I can't open the door. I parked the car in my garage and....left the parking lights on for some friggin reason.
Does the deadness keep the doors from opening at all?! I can't get them to open even with the physical key.
So now what? How the hell do I get around this?

Strange, I considered that you always can open car with the physical key. Can you open the trunk with the key? Why did you lock car in garage? I assume it's a garage at your house. I believe MB has lifetime roadside assistance, so maybe you can get help from there.

dead battery
Yes some cars with a dead battery can not be opened with the key, however the trunk is sometimes able to be opened with the key and take a charger to the plus side of the trunk light wire and neg to a good ground and it will charge your battery enough to get inside via the doors.
hope this helps

Hmmm. Which is the plus side?
Garage is not attached to my house and I lock it via habit! I used to lock my grand national, put a collar guard on and remove a lead to the battery - and that was in an attached garage. I've never thought of not locking the car...

Locking the car even if you have an attached garage is a good habit. Should the worse happen and your house is burglarized, why give a thief easy access to the car? I'm assuming you guys don't leave spare keys sitting around when you're not home but the car is.

OK, my old main key - its physical key opened the door. That's a comfort since I have been on the road with my newer key - that would have been fun...
The jumping instructions say to put the negative on behind the engine cover. But on what? The only thing that makes any sense is a type of screw I think holds the cover down. Any insights on that?

The negative cable just needs to be grounded. So attach it to some part of the engine or suspension that's bare metal. You'll know it's grounded when you see some small sparks.

A good point. However it isn't my case. If any car in garage, then somebody is home.
