2002 e320 - Bad Seat Switch?

Driver's Seat Switch: When trying to move the seat bottom back, sometimes it goes back and sometimes it goes forward! Does this sound like a bad switch?

If it is a bad switch, is it worth trying to clean, or just spring for a new one?

Thanks.

Do a search here. I thought I read it here before. By moving your seat all the way forward it resets something and the seat should work again.

I did some searches and came across a post about a guy opening up and cleaning many little pieces in the switch. I'll look again to try to find the one about resetting the seat because that would be cool.

Thanks.

It sounds like the switch to me; first try the re-set method (either run it all the way forward, all the way back, or both). If that doesn't fix it then get a price for a new one, and if you think that it is too expensive, try to clean it.

Where is the seat module located on these cars? Maybe that can be cleaned too (?)

Mine does the samething on the passenger side. I don't use the controls on the drivers side. I just use the seat memory. I just use the memory on the passenger side to get the seat to where I want it. I will try the all the forward reset tip next time. But does this fix it for a while or is it just a one time thing?

I have been having the same issues with my driver's seat as well. The "moving forward trick" does fix sometimes. My main issue, though is that my back-rest and the up/down recliner won't adjust at all unless I use the memory buttons. I was thinking if it was the switch, then the memory buttons should not function at all!!!!!

I tried another switch and the exact problem remains, so it's not the switch. Someone mentioned a seat control module (I think it's under the seat). This might be the source of the problem. Since I learned that the memory buttons still work, this problem has become easier to work around.
