Smile Lesson Of the day O2 sensors

For some of the w210's E320 variants.
Some years back we had a 1991 acura legend, and eventually an O2 sensor died,I replaced it with a universal O2 unit and she lived happily ever after, another 80,000 miles(180,000 total)at least until some jackass decided putting out a cig was more important then running into it at speed.
Anyway and someone chime in please,I've installed them in our BMW'S and other makes so I'm assuming I can do the same in the E320.Bosch part 15738 the only difference between upstream and downstream sensors is the wire lenght and all you do is splice the new unit to the old connector properly apply anti sieze and install. At $65 each it seems like a great savings over oem which run about $100 each? They are a maintenance issue at 100,000 miles and often get neglected until they fail or one fails.Any thoughts?

True, universal ones tend to be cheaper but just a little more work to install. When i worked for Kragen auto (3yrs) we kept getting complaints about them so i always just sold the direct replacements and never had a return. I know how to splice real well but i would still just stick to a direct replacement. I do this from experience with the universal O2s and also multiple customer complaints. But hey if they have been working well for you then keep doing your thing man. Take care dude.
