Service engine now LIGHT?

'00 S-500, E-430S, '88 Mustang
Service engine now LIGHT?
In the bottom portion of the cluster, where the mileage usually is, came up a light serive now! or service engine now. Is there a way to get that off with some sort of button combination?

I forgot how to reset it but i think if you hold the (s) button below the dimmer buttons down until it reset.

LOOK up the diy for the reset,also it is in the Omanual.

1 Turn electronic key in the steering lock position 2
2 Within 4 seconds, press button "O" (quickly)twice
3 Note! The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds, turn electronic key in steering lock to position 0
4 Press and hold down "O", while turning electronic key in steering lock to position 2. The present status for days or distances is displayed once more. Keep holding down button"O"
Note! After approx. 12 seconds a signal beep sounds and the display will show 10,000 miles or 15 000 km for other countries
5 Release button "O"
Oh yeah!do the service,if it is time.Your car will behave nicer and love you for the kindness....

hehe...Now i kno why they call u OOOOOOO LORD!!!
Thanx, a lot. SOmeone should really create a log book of all these little tricks that u can do ur self with the break hitting, key turning, 0 holding +- while holding something, temp setting while hitting the break pedal...wow seems like this car is full of tricks.

Some are in the manual,but everyone that bought used doesn't always have it.Some are listed on diy articles,here and over on benzworld.org(a great list of tips tricks and diy articles).The ECU programing is a fun one to try,some cars really respond to the reset,like they have been sent back to school.Radio resets,disconnecting the battery without having to lift the rear seat,jump start posts under the hood,climate control diagnostics on board that if used can save you thousands of dollars at the hands of the dealer when they tell you the a'c is shot,and you run the simple tests and find it to be a faulty sensor.Keep digging these sites and you will see,these cars offer a wealth of info on how to maintain them if you only seek the info.
