Scary
This is part of a post today on another mb forum.Once again my adage holds true,"run don't walk to the nearest exit at the dealer."
this is for a E430
E430.....44,000 miles.......bought it with 19,000 miles 2 years ago
Just had service B and it was $500 flat rate + $136 for air filter + $90 for brake fluid + $220 for rear brake pad
Wanted an additional $240 for fuel filter + $635 for spark plugs + $80 for coolant flush (we said no to these items)
This is my first and only MB.....this seems ridiculous. Am I crazy or is this normal pricing????
Ripley's believe it or not. Needs to put this one in the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear of yet another bad dealer.
It's the major reason for all the "quality" problems suffered by Mercedes, i.e. it's not the cars themselves.
With my current car, I still have a year left on the free maintenance and warranty, but after that I'm headed straight to my independent MB mechanic and investing in a aftermarket warranty.
Sorry to hear the price gouging that they experienced...

just take the labor and prices with a grain of salt, seems they are 1990 prices not 2007.......
You can do the service yourself, have tools?A set of tools at costco is about all you need to do most maint jobs on the E series, other special tools i.e. torx with security ends are avail at schucks etc. they are the ones with the hollow out tips.A must in my book is the 17mm offset wrench for the plugs, but you can use a long 5/8.Most of the items and such are check this, check that, which any good car owner should be doing anyway.Parts, filters etc.order on line from autohausaz.com germanstar.net.Look up posts on maint jobs here or over on the diy section of benzworld.org w210 forum, several members have done write ups or pictorials of almost every job you can think of.These cars almost diagnose themselves, you dig for the answer, from the codes or the clues, get the parts and fix the issue.

If you aren't the diy type ask around for a good indie benz shop in your area someone here probably knows of one they like.
