bad seats
My seats suck in my 98 e430. What can I do to make them more comfortable for longer trips? They seem to also make a popping noise. The drivers lower cushion has lost some padding. What do you recommend to build it back up? Thanks for replies

Seats
Short of finding a better set and installing them, very costly, you can go to a good local auto upholstery shop and have them bolster up the side areas next to your hips and install more padding in the main seat area. Our 99 wagon did not have heated seats,so I got a quote from one of the award winning custom shops in the n.w. to do the above and install heaters in both seats.$500 for comfort and heat, seems like a fair price, and without the proper tools for this job I might think about it,unless I figure out a way to diy and then I will post the pics.

If you have heat already knock of some money for the carbon elements you wont need to buy.

They are the light gray and they are heated. I bought the car off the original owner it only had 60k and he wasn't even fat. Upholstery is nice but I want to fix the cushion because I'm afraid it will rip and cause a bigger problem. What's this popping effect? ....somebody was saying its in the adjustment area?....I was out on a date saturday night and she thought I had a empty beer can under the seat.

2004 e320 and 99 e320 wagon
what is up with the popping? really bugged me when i bought the car. got used to it though. anyone open up the seat an fix it. oil it or what ever. i'm thinking about recording a one man bad between the seat popping of the seat and noise from the seatbelt reel (sounds like rudolph's nose when it lights up on the tv show). anyone have any luck?

From day one I did not care for the seats in my E 430, they lacked contour in the seating area. I just put the thickest sheep skins(for $700) I could find and that made them much more comfortable.

You can replace the seat frame
which is an available part. No idea about pricing though but should bring the seat back to new feel:
