i just wanted your opinions on something. i was going to put on a flat hood emblem, but decided to go another route. remove the emblem and weld a piece of metal to plug the hole, bondo to fill and paint. i am going for the super clean look.

i've scheduled for next friday, so i have some time to back out if i want to.

Seems pretty cool. I've seen it on a w124 E500, looks very clean. Are you going to the body shop just for this, or were you having the hood painted anyways? cause it seems like quite a bit of cost just to fill up the hole. The only thing is, if you ever sell the car, I don't know how the next buyer may feel about it-just a thought...

good point re next buyer, i also think a lot of risk to create cleanly.

that looks clean. this is the first mod i'm doing to my car. to tell you the truth, i'm not too concern about what the next owner might think.

regarding cost, the hood needed to be painted anyways, way too many dings, cracks, scrathes, etc. i could have lived with all the paint damage, but when i thought about filling in the hole, i was persuaded to paint. its not costing me too much at all (body shop next door to the warehouse i work in is giving my a great deal).

btw, except for the headlight washer and chrome rims, that is exactly my car. now i know what it will look like.

Well..actually that is a Photoshop enhancement...but other than that...it does look pretty cool.

I don't know about that. For me the Star on bonnet is as esential in Mercedes as the steering wheel. Although this is just my opinion. I find it disturbing if it's not aligned properly and have to stop and adjust it so it stands correctly.
A bit obsesive maybe but this is a benz!!!

Maybe it's because I started driving classic benzes first and the emblems on those are like monuments.
Clean everything else, paint the grill de-chrome but keep the star.
