tailights
Do they make LED taillights for a 98 e430?...if so does anybody know how much?....I'm constantly having troubles when I have sit in traffic and have to hold the brake for any extended amount of time. I've had both taillights out and have had to do all kinds of things to keep them working and getting tired of constantly having to be concerned about them. Thanks for any replies

Search the word wave on this page and you will find a couple of threads. I have a set on my car. They were just under 300 when I bought them but they were very hard to get back then. The prices should be lower by now. The wave lens tailights are superior to the earlier and cheaper flat style lens. They are still not as high quality as the OE Mercedes tails but they are very presentable.

Or
you could search for the posts on tail light repair on the forum or on benzworld.org,common problem with the sockets,Raymond had a post I think. You can get longer life and brighter light at daniel stern lighting on the web,he also has bulbs that if you have the clear rear directional lenses ,are clear until turning and then they turn yellow.
Also 65w rally lights H7 that give longer life and more light to your high and low beams.
ohlord
"GOT LIGHT?"
these are just an option to the high price cheap looking junk on ebay, but to each his own.

too many to choose from. I'm afraid ill get something and not be happy with it and end up having to try to sell it on here. I guess I will just keep my OEM.

yes, those tails are a source of weak point for 210 owners...with tales (pun)
of warped connections, excessive heat, etc. some creative folks have reported
retrofits as a workaround to the high resistance issues, ie rigging in a bypass
around the plated connection...direct to bulb. maybe you can at least upgrade
to the facelifted tail lights to modernize the rear end look. i felt that oval
shaped portion of the lens made it look very old, so i bought E55 tails.
E55 tails have lightly smoked clear lens, whereas facelift E320 have clear (upper) lens.

I should have a pair of E55 smoked tails soon. I have one ready now and the other as soon as I get down to my parts guy (he gets me OEM wholesale cost).
I have some issues with the bulb contacts mating with the electro plate. They could be fixed up by building a solder bead to bridge the connections, as the plates are a little bent up. I dont want to buy a solder kit just for this purpose, so I plan on selling the pair of outer tails. If you can find a set of inner tails to go with it, these would make for a cheap upgrade.

-As a side not mine are slightly messed up from trying to dry some condensation with a hairdrier. Apparently the chrome reflective coating of the Depo headlights will melt and peel with any direct heat like that. They still work well, but just look cheesy now at close distance. Just and FYI so you don't make the mistake I did...

Not typically, but to do the Depo Headlight retro you have to take them apart and then reseal them. Mine were also several years old and apparently the seal was a biit weak.
The eBay LED taillights do look OEM, except they're a little more "crystal" look to them. The OEM taillights are a little more opaque in appearance. I'm about to throw my set of LEDs on eBay if you want them before I do, and for a lot cheaper than they go for on eBay PM me.
