I should

have taken the odds the books were taking in vegas that you would be jumping on the cf hood deal! Might help you reach nirvana.
Did they send the light duty hinges,so you can close the hood without busting the frame?or are you required to install pins to hold the flimsy piece of crap on the car.Oh well ,live and learn.

Got grammar?

How mature of you, feeling like a big dick now because you mouthed off to a 17 year old? Stay on topic or don't post at all.

CF hoods are worth every penny, especially if you paid bargain basement price for them. It'll take a little toying around to get the hood to sit just right but in the end it pays off.

I was on

topic, when i gave him my opinion of the cf hood he bought for $125 ,they are junk,he asked, I told.On topic,as a reply to his grandpa remark,to the point,he is an immature ***,and if you have issues with it ,A quote from your own post will demonstrate the maturity level we are dealing with

"I was in the same position as you a few months ago, had a wreckless driving charge and it was reduced to public misconduct = no criminal record, so don't worry about it."

You two hand holders are both what? 18? Ever offer one thread that has ever been about anything more than what you broke, made louder,or the speed you dreamed about?

This is a valid point. Did they?

Militant-Grunt, do you mind explaining to me how these hoods are worth every penny? Assuming that they are top quality, light-wieght carbon fiber hoods (not some ho-hum wanna-be carbon fiber hood), how much weight are they really shaving? And I'm assuming that they value is in the weight right?

Asthetically they have something to offer I suppose. I've some decent CF hoods that looked good, even on this forum.

Not trying to stir the pot here, just want to understand your logic.

well the new hood weighs 18 pounds, as compared to how ever heavy the old one is.

let me guess, you're not gonna paint it?

With this new lightweight piece, I can just imagine the stories of spanking e55s with his lightly modded 320.

The fun never stops.

Why would you put a carbon fiber hood on an E-class Benz?
Good lord, I never even put one on my Honda S2000...

TommyGunn,

You do know that the original hood is a intricate part of the crumble zone in case of a accident.
They are designed to crumble up a certain way so the hood won't come through the windshield and decapitate you when you have a collision.

it is, but usually you do that BEFORE you buy something.

Eh, whatever, if he paints it and its not horrible quality, I don't have much of an issue with this.

The weight savings will be negligible (15lbs or so), but as long as it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb (black CF hood on a silver car) its not terrible.

So you're going to swap it out every weekend?

I would think that $125 would be better spent on a N02 kit...get some decent performance out of that car. Surely you could find a used system that would fit that car.

But, not my money...not my car. And we've seemed to veer off the subject a bit. so back I go.

How is this hood going to mount? Just the same as the original? Do you have the hood yet to look at it?

look, heres a pic of the hood i did on a w202 c43.

the quality is awsome, i do plan to paint it. and no, it will not be swaped every weekend, just every benz meet i go to, car meet etc. thats it. as for n20, a universal wet kit for a 6cylinder car is 600, + the m104 head is very weak so N20 = blown head.

I would venture to guess the fit and finish will not be that great. In my youth the aftermarket mustang world was filled with cheap fiberglass aftermarket hoods and body kits. They ultimately ended up costing far more in the long run with the time and work it would take to get them to fit and look right.

I would say chances are for $125 you will get what you paid for. There is no need for one on your car, aside from cosmetics, which you do realize. I think you're in for more aggrivation than anything with it. It also is not in keeping with the style of the car.

FWIW- Back when I had my 1994 Mustang Cobra at the rip old age of 19-20, I put a 3" fiberglass cowl hood on it. Looking back it was rediculous, I think after I got it I quickly realized that as well. We all have to live and learn

No joke

He's taken his car, an old school L6, up to and beyond 130 mph on roads that would shake your teeth out at 35mph,so it must be so.
Can't understand why anyone would paint a quality CF hood if it was for show and shines with the other ricers in the hood, defeats the bling thing.
ohlord
And can you even contemplate the work to pull that hood and realign it every few weeks, fitting hoods is a science and an art left to experienced diy'ers and good body men,Is he either?

well, the hood was a 700-800 dollar hood, the company was going outa business so i picked it up for a steal. as for anything eles, so what. Its a w210 thats beeing modded. Did any of you guys give hubert, alexbenz, the godfather, or Richard023 crap about moddding their cars. Do you thing people with S/C'd benz's drove the speed limit? NO. As for the road that rattels your teeth out, yeah right. Thats why its repaved recently and other people on this forum have taken their cars to the 170+ mark.
