Headlight Housing

I have been looking into upgrading the halogen lights on my 97 E320. I noticed that some websites have two different headlight housings for sale, one for halogen and one for xenon. does anyone know if the housings themselves are the same? such as, did mercedes use the same glass/reflector for both xenon and halogen, only the bulbs are what would be different?

Bump on this...I've got the same questions. I assume I need to stick to a halogen set unless I want to convert to HID ($$$). Basically, my headlights are kinda foggy...just want to get a new set of clear plastic on there.

usually you can't use the same housings with both xenon and halogen without getting a distorted beam pattern because of the different focal points of the bulbs, beam pattern, etc.

the exterior lens for reflector HID and reflector halogen have noticeable
differences. they are not swappable. is this what you're asking?

or, are you trying to ....

- convert reflector HID to projector HID?
- convert reflector halogen to projector halogen?
- convert halogen reflector into projector HID?
- or....?

After reading up on the subject, I would be looking at converting to new headlight housings that are projectors and getting projector HID's

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Amg

you can polish the oem lens, search for the diy or ask how. Then if you want more light,go with the 65watt rally bulb from danielstern lighting.Longer life than oem h7 bulb and more light.
Just my preference,They throw more light then the depos and I cant stand the bluish look of those things.

"GOT LIGHT?"
