2000 E430 Transmission Question

My car has 132k on it and on each of the last two mornings, the transmission has not been up-shifting properly the first mile or two into my commute. Both times, I've pulled over, turned off the car, waited a few minutes, restarted, and the problem goes away. No malfunction messages, no check engine light has come on. And throughout the course of the last two days, the problem never came back, car drove like normal - it only happened in the mornings. And for what it's worth, I live in Houston, so I can't imagine the recent 60-degree lows have anything to do with this.

I'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

Fluid

and filter ever been changed? If not it is time.Your fluid is dirty and is not allowing the proper output from the sensors located above the valve body to be sent to the tcu. diy on benzworld.org w210 section diy or on mercedesshop.com diy.
parts at autohausaz.com or germanstar.net some trans shops will do it or any diy'r is capable if they want to.You will have to do it again in the next 10k or so since on the 2000 and newer you have no drain for the converter.Use only mb fluid.Fastlane has it through a link on mercedesshop.com
have fun

Thanks Ohlord. I've had the regular MB recommended services and haven't gone through past repair bills, so I don't know that for sure.

Any idea how much $$ I'm looking at for said service? At my house diy stands for destroy it yourself......

Thanks again.

Some dealers will now do the change

http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/Trans7226Fluid

dealers are pricey, find a trans shop or indie mb shop that will do the trans service.Prices vary so shop around.
filter kit and gasket
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...20Filter%20Kit
dealer for the special dip stick or call Ron at germanstar.net
dip stick fastlane or
http://www.prostreetonline.com/m/mer...t-dipstick.asp
they also have the seal cap.
some trans shops will do it for you if you supply the parts and fluid.
do not have any shop flush the trans
you can also follow this link to change out all the fluid if you want to tackle the diy
http://bestsyntheticoil.com/dealers/...onverter.shtml
it allows complete draining of the fluid even on cars with no torque conv. drain.
