i would like to know how often to change the air filter(the engine one, not the cabin filter)

dont think they had changed to the 60k intervals of the later model,so if you are doing your own oil changes with the proper oil and fleece filter then you order and install a new air filter at the same time from autohausaz.com oil filter kit is about 14 bucks and the oem air filter is 12something.Clean air and oil are the best things you can do for the life of the engine and for 27bucks for the two,no reason to cheap out.Order the proper weight mb oil from them 2 jugs is enough and you will have left over for the next time and shipping is free on orders over 50 bucks.

not to quibble, but why does the manual say 60000 miles? i thought that sounded long, hence the post.

they changed to the 60 k in 03,have seen some at 40k and they were dirty.At 12 bucks change them at oil change time if you diy.
