Selling my White Face Gauge Set.

If anyone is looking to buy a set of white face gauges for their 96 to 99 E-Class, I found my set in storage. I replaced them with AMG gauges some time back and stored this set. They look great and are of OEM quality with the hidden warning triangle for the traction control. They light up in amber just like the stock black faces and are made by NRAuto. They originally sold for $129 for just the stick on faces. These are already mounted to the inner plastic surface of the cluster so they can be simply snapped in to place. $50 plus shipping.

You pull the cluster out of the dash, unplug the 2 electrical connectors from the back. Remove the front half of the case. The gauge needles carefully pop off with a small fork and the gauge face piece as pictured snaps out. Drop in the new face peice and reinstall the needles at the their zero stop location. Before you put the front half of the cluster back on, connect the cluster up to verify the needles were incerted correctly. It works best to do this when you have a full tank of fuel so that the needle will return to the full marker. They can be adjusted with the front half off before closing the case up and pushing the cluster back in the dash. Now enjoy the new and unique look. You car will love you for it as well...

Hey E-Klasse, I swore I read somewhere that you shouldnt disconnect the plugs when you remove the instrument cluster. Some story about the whole thing re-setting and the guy had to send it out to be reset? Can anyone elaborate or verify? I'd like to be 100% sure, therefore I may very well be interested in buying the faces off of you!

There is nothing wrong with disconnecting the cluster. I have pulled mine several time. You have to plug the connector on the right side first when reinstalling the cluster. The sensor for the outside temp is on the right side connector and power comes from the left side connector. I noticed that if they are connected in the reverse order, the outside temp display will stay blank. If any damage was done in the case you heard of, it must have been from static discharge. Make sure you touch something metal and ground yourself before plugging the connections in. If you want to be totally safe, the battery can be disconnected at the negative terminal in the back seat foot well on the right side. There is a small cover that can be popped off to isolate the power. I never had to do that because I wanted to power the cluster up to verify the needle positions.
