1998 E320 A/C Not Cooling Evenly
I searched the forum but did not find exactly what I was looking for. There was a post from 2006 with a link to DIY code pulling for AC codes, but the link was no longer active.
I gave my 1998 E320 (107K mi) to my dad when I bought my 07 CLS550. It is his first Benz and he is retired, so money for repairs is at a premium. I bought the Star Classic Service Manual DVD but it has been less than helpful on this issue. I had the car thouroughly checked by a reputable Indy before I gave it to him and he indicated the expansion valve hissing was pretty typical and that the charge readings were within spec.
Recently it began blowing warmer (not much cooling) on the driver's side and the passenger side is cooling. For years before I gave it to him, ever so often (very rarely) it would not blow cold until I killed the engine and restarted.
Anyone have a clue? How about instructions on pulling codes? The only thing the Star Classic Service Manual said was a possible faulty A/C dryer.
Thanks in advance. The people on this forum are the smartest people in the world!

Much appreciated
ohlord,
Thank you for the link. I think I can pass the skills test required as per the site (ability to fog a mirror).
When I see him at church next weekend I'll run the DX in the parking lot and come back home to run the analysis and post results.
Much appreciated and rest assured I will post results. I wonder why those steps were not in the Star Classic Service Manual DVD?
