Ipod connection in my 01 E?
Unless you have command (plug in glove box) few good options exist.
My 430 has standard radio & cassette HU with Bose, I use a cassette adapter. sounds better than an FM converter. There is a unit that plugs in to the speaker output side of the radio, and allows an input tap for the I-Pod but the only control is what your I-Pod has (no balance/fade, tone, base).

Then there is one that takes the CD player out, and is quite expensive $500+
I just rerouted the wire to cassette (hidden) around radio and in to the compartment below the radio, not the best but that is all I am going to do.

I don't think mine looks ghetto. There are not too many buttons and very easy to use.
I've read that you can't control the ipods functions through the command...is this true?
thanks a lot.
Does your Ipod have a line out port? it should be the same size or plug as your head phone plug.
If it does then go to the radio shack and look for or ask the sales pearson fore the mp3 wire, it should be double male cable I think the shortest length is 1.5' and you're in business.
I hope this link works, and it only shows the male end of the plug that you need on both sides of the cable.

If your head unit has a cassette player, you should try the cassette adapter it sounds much better than the FM rig.
And yes my 55 has command W/aux, I use for both I-Pod and/or Inno XM on that AUX port.
I'll keep ya posted, If I find a good work around for the Ipod.

Why not get an decent Alpine HU that plays MP3 CDs for like $160? Just a suggestion...the only down side is that you lose the steering wheel controls
