Well, I went to the dealer to get an alignment and two new tires on the back. The old ones had major wear on the outsides due to the positive rear camber.
The alignment was for $100. In a few hours he calls me back to inform me that the camber is WAY off and it needs bolts. In effect, the bolts will cost $350 more. I tell him to forget it because I will lower the car in a few weeks and will need alignment again. So he says the tech will get it as close as possible without the bolts.
A few hours later he calls to inform me that the car is ready. He goes on to say that the tech had a spare pair of bolts laying around and he threw them on for free.
?
1) are camber bolts needed for the rear?
2) does anyone do this for free?
3) how can I check for the bolts myself?

bolts for the front and if they had a set they might have treated you to them, stranger things have happened
the rear camber on non amg cars comes at greater expense if out of range, pricey units from speedybenz etc.
The only way I can think of checking the bolts is on the align machine because they are used when the original adjustments are unable to achieve and the bolts and position of the bolts is needed to bring it into spec.
only pic I could find of a custom set up like the speedy benz.

another reason not to go to big or to low on the wheels and the drop

There are no camber bolts for the rear. There are thrust alignment bolts, but won't really help with camber. I'm in a similar situation with my E300 as I have lowered it and have massive inner tire wear on my rear tires. I purchased an adjustable rear camber bar from Lensolo to which I currently awaiting some remaining parts prior to installation.
