Xenon headlamp internals x-fer to non-Xenon lamps?

I think they may have been covered before, but if I have the internals of a xenon headlamp, will those internals (reflector, lense, etc.. ) tranfer to the housing of a non-xenon headlamp. This is in reference to the 96-99 lamps....

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
The stock

lenses are constructed to the physics of a H7 bulb,if you did install xenon projectors the light output would be horrifically bad.
polish the lenses and install the 65watt rally bulbs from
www.danielsternlighting.com
and save yourself the money
use it to get your transmission fluid changed

The Internals CAN be changed over ...The Headlight lens is DIFFERENT from a Standard headlight ..the Xenon lens is clear..

Use a heat gun to heat up the seal around the lens to access the Headlight internals ..and RESEAL the lens when installing

I think you mis-understood. I am referring to the housing of each headlamp, xenon and non-xenon as hopefully being the same, in that if I had a complete xenon lamp with a broken tab on the housing, being able to transfer the internals and the lense from the xenon headlamp to the body of the non-xenon lamp byt removing the internals, reflector, etc....

I had to do that exact swap with my current headlamps. There were some broken parts, and I changed them with good shells. This is a time consuming task. Maybe I was ultra paranoid, but I went slow and careful with the swap for fear of breaking anything.

Received one of my future donors today. Found that the reflector is broken in half.

Any suggestions for repairs. Plan of attack was to carefully remove from housing, place on towel with a piece of wax paper between the towel and reflector and using an adhesive, i.e. JB Weld....

Suggestions?

Probably a good start. I didn't do any specific repairs to my headlights like that, so I don't want to point you in the wrong direction regarding that type of a repair.

I currently have the Audi A4/S4 xenon projectors retrofitted in my halogen lamps but not that happy. The lense refracts too much and the projector style on the w210 does not get me excited. I like the look of the OEM, reflector based xenon lamps, hence my project.

Has anyone been able to verify if the internals, i.e. reflector from a xenon assembly from years '00-'02 are the same / will fit a headlamp assembly from '96-'99 MY?

I know that the shape of the housing is slightly different and that the lenses are different also.

Some photos of the reflector repair using some Loctite super glue from your local Wally World.

After holding it in place for about 1 min and letting sit for approx. 3 hours, it feels solid, although I didn't try to forcefully rip it apart but I gave it a light twist and nothing was moving....

I chose this super glue as it is in gel form. I didn't want the item to set on initial contact in case you didn't bring the parts together 100% on the first attempt.

The Loctite Super Glue GEL is EXCELLENT for this application. If you have parts that fit well then I haven't come across a better or stronger adhesive. Since it's the gel you don't have to worry about getting the parts perfect on the first contact. You can put it together, pull it apart and hold it together and let it sit and leave it alone..

Downside. It takes some time to cure, depending on the repair. Enjoy!
