will these tires fit?

current tires are 235/45/17 tires on 17x8 wheels, and i found a really good deal on 245/45/17 (neighbor bought wrong size for close to $500, and will sell them for $350, tire is bridgestone potenza). diameter difference with stock setup is only 1.45%, but i'm worried about the front. do you guys think 245 will fit in front? should be ok for the rear. car is 97 e320 with stock suspension.

I get a 1.4% difference also, so you're fine for any diameter calcs. No idea if the width will fit. Do you have traction control? I would expect the over 8% difference from stock 215/55/16 would give TC a bit of a fit, and your speedo and odo are definitely off.

245/45-17

Tirona, I have a '98 W210 Wagon and I've been running 245/45-17 Contitouring on stock 17" Dual Spoke wheels from '04 W211 with no rubbing problem(full compression, steering lock to lock). Diameter wise, the rule of thumb is that you're fine if you're within 3% of stock.

oe v.s. proposed 245/45/17
11 revs per mile is not 8% TC will be fine
****the biggest issue is what offset on your current rims?
are you lowering the car?are you willing to roll the fenders?
Slap them on and drive it,lock to lock over a few tracks
you'll find out soon enough

thank you guys for your replies. right now i have snow tires (225/45/17 all around), but rest of year i keep summer tires 235/45/17. i don't plan on lowering the car or doing any modifications at all, this is my daily driver. the rims are 17x8, and i think et=40 if i remember it right, have to remove the wheel to find out for sure. my only worry is that the 245/45 will rub in front.

Test

fit them.
31-35 et front would be no problem. How close were your 235's?
If to close at least you have some staggered tires for the rear
and you sell the other two for 2bills
