What

size rims?what offset?what tires?What springs?What shocks?What drop?
A whole lot more goes into choosing rims, than I want to go with 9's all around.

my gut says that there isn't an 8" width in 16" rim but you never know. do you
really have one? in 16" I thought 7.5" is max.

but if you're thinking 8.5" (or 9") width, that sounds more like an 18" rim. be
very careful when going that large, as there is the infamous 'nut' on the inside
(photo courtesy of E55 Kev)....vs the fender lip on the outside, if the offset
is in the neighborhood of ET30.

traditional wisdom says to go no larger than a 235x40 for 8.5" width and
keep the ET at 35-ish.

great sources to help calc when swapping rims/tires....

tire/wheel fitment
my favorite...

good one showing side fits...

another good one..for MBs, showing reasonable fitments...

560sl

107 chassis 5by 112 wheels with 8in wide and 34 et should fit with 225 all around, dont know about the lug design though you might be needing to call radusa.

why were you asking about 8.5 or 9's?
