2 Malfunctions - ABS and ESP
Are these two related or something? They both come on at the same time randomly. Sometimes I will get no malfunction message at all. Not sure what could be causing this. It's either they both come on or none at all.

Battery
is going bad, check it should be About 13.5 volts if it falls below 11.5 or so it will trigger the warnings. If not that then go to benzworld.org w210 section become a member and look up brake switch r/r in the diy section.

I have had them come on on my car before. In order to reset them you must be in park with the motor started. Then turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, hold 1 second, and then all the way to the right, hold 1 second, and back to center. If the light does not go off repeat procedure.
It is realigning via an encoder type device I believe.
Hope it helps.

Thanks! I'm going to try doing this today. I just want to make sure that my brakes aren't going bad.

This is only if your battery has been disconnected, this is not a permanent fix. I had the same problem...I would turn car off, also did the stearing wheel trick to clear code, it would go away, then come back...
If its not the battery, Its the brake light switch.....did the diy= and it never returned.

I had this problem with my car yesterday.. except it was the batteries in my remote.. not the battery in the car. I knew they were getting low but they finally went dead yesterday and I was nearly locked out of my car. Ignition would not turn, could not open trunk. I went and got two new batteries and viola. Back in business. Weird thing was that I had to rest my radio code.. sort of like the car battery *did* disconnect. But the car battery is fine and after replacing the batteries in my keyfob... no more warnings and all the locks work again.
Could it just be a coincidence that my keyfob batteries were also gone south.. and I need to get my car battery load checked? It started immediatly, even when left sitting a week or so while I ride my motorcycle or drive another car.

Yeah... mine has come on when backing down a steep driveway a couple of times... the steering trick fixed it and it never came back except when the battery was replaced or disconnected.
I have not had to replace the switch yet, but I heard it is a $12.50 fix. Nice and cheap!
