Question Approximate Labor Charge??

I picked up the E55 AMG springs from Jimmydagreek for my stock W210 and was looking to find out how many hrs of labor would swapping the stock springs for the AMG ones warrant. My mechanic has no time for the next week or so and I wanted to get some idea on the time to get an idea of the labor cost.

you

need to change the shocks also, the springs are shorter by 1.5 inches and the shocks need to be matched.Bilstein hd are the oe shock valving and travel matched to the e55 coils
www.autohausaz.com

As NC locals would say Dang!!! more expenses. I didn’t know that I would also need the shocks changed to install the E55 springs. What do you mean by never kyb to stiff for the street?

I have heard that Blistein will make the ride pretty harsh ……….maybe I put this on old and do more research on the forum before changing everything.

labor is about 4hrs
will it take them 4hrs? no, but that's probably what they will charge

you don't really have to change your shocks,
by not changing them though, they will wear out very very fast, also the ride not optimum setup, rebound and compression won't be right

that's why it's always advised to change the shocks as well as the springs, shorter springs, shorter shocks, at the same time so you don't have pay twice for labor, and ride quality won't suffer

Thx for your input Eurosport and Ohlord. I just sent suspension guru RaymondG a pm on this subject………Looks like this mod will have to wait until I can find OEM E55 shocks.

I DIY'd my shocks thanks to Raymond's DIY post. It was actually very simple... but a little time consuming because I had never done this before and wanted to be very careful.

Take a look at the DIY that Raymond did. Its really not that bad, and will save you some cash. I was hesitant to do the springs on my car for fear of one coming loose. You may want to get professional advice regarding the spring part of the install.
