Moving on up: 2000 E430

Hey all,

Well today I just made a great upgrade in vehicles! Traded up from my 1995 E320 to a 2000 E430 4MATIC with ~50k miles. I've been a long time member on this forum, got my first car (95' E320) in high school about 5 years ago, and it's nice to move up to the W210 forum. Originally, I was out on the market to buy a 2006 325i, but as it turns out, my Dad is looking to upgrade to a newer Benz so we are trading in the E320 and I inherited the E430. While an 06' 325i would be nice, I think this car is far superior in the end.

Anyway, it looks great, drives great, and feels great! A quick question though. I'm looking to try and rig my iPod up to the OEM system. The car has the 6-disc in-trunk: is there a way to swap this with an iPod or are there any other auxiliary inputs? I know it would be difficult to control the iPod if it's in the trunk, but there has to be *some* kind of remote control for this kind of things these days.

What have you all done to hook an MP3 player up to your cars? I'd rather not change out the OEM radio for a variety of reasons.

Thanks for the input! Loving the car so far

Though the 2006 325I is a nice car, I would take a 2000 4matic over just about any 3-series BMW other than the M3. Good choice, post some pics.

Enjoy the upgrade, i love the facelifted W210's!

If you have the navigation system, check in ur glove compartment, to the left, toward the middle, there should be a little aux import hole(this is if you have the stock comand navigation)

good luck and enjoy the new ride.

P.S. id take a W210 over a new/old 325i ANYDAY!!!

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to do a bit more research into the iPod thing, I'll let you all know what I come up with. As for pics, I'm still stuck at work right now, but I'll get some tomorrow.

As for this question, I'm still working on it. We are actually using the 95 E320 to trade in for my Mom's new Prius. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow to see what they'll offer us. Honestly, I'll take it if they offer me $3k for it. The car has ~95k miles and is really starting to get rough around the edges. I'll report back on the trade-in value of the E320 tomorrow.

Update on the dealer trade-in value. They only offered me $850 for my E320 which is just ridiculous I think. So I will be trying to sell this car privately. It's in great condition and I'm willing to go pretty low on the price as I just need to free my hands of it, if anyone is interested

The E430 is at the dealership getting some work done on headlights and A/C system, luckily it still has its warranty. After browsing around here, seems like the W210's have issues with their A/C systems, so hopefully I'm getting the bugs out while it's still on warranty.

$850 for trade-in, rip-off dealership! At 95k miles that E320 has a lot of life left in it unless you have neglected it w/ proper care. GL w/ the sale.
