Comments on Ram Air
The stock intake on the E420 is very restrictive. I was thinking about removing the cover and running a custom pipe from the MAF to the bottom right of the bumper.

I would bend the tubing coming from the bumper at a 90 degree angle to avoid water running into the engine and causing flood lock. I could also integrate a valved opening in the engine bay for rainy days.


I've seen many posts for hood scoop intakes, but I require some subtlety. What are your thoughts?

You know this how?

It's an autobahn burner, driving like you'll never do in the USA and it does quite fine. Mercedes does NOT engineer strangled engines.

yeah, I agree with lkc... air intake seems like a non-issue for the w210's, even for those rare e420's.

The latches for my engine cover/intake have both broken. The intake just sits on the engine, so I must make a change soon.

Either ram air, or K&N filter sitting low.

or replace the oem.Do not install K/N.

filter out flows even a day old k/n .oem filter is only 12 bucks at autohausaz.com
The m112 and m113 engines have no problems getting all the air they need through the stock air box and inlet at the grill opening.

Stock setup is about as good a ram-air effect you'll get... it's arguably even better than a GTO's Ram-Air setup! I know, I had a '70 GTO Ram Air III.
