Check lamps

Check lamps
I got the message in instrumental cluster. I was looking in manual and nothing much about the problem. I did quick inspection and all lamps seem giving some light. So what's a procedure of finding broken lamp? Or this message means something different?

Nope. License plate lamps are Ok. Mysterious problem. Since the message appears immediately after engine start I suspect it can be bulb which supposes to be on all time. I have nod daylight feature active. So what other lamp can be all time on?

Does
it say lamp malfunction?
Or check engine and it is lit up?
what year and model?

To check if it is the brake lamp, try starting the car with your foot off the brake pedal. And then if the warning lamp is off, step on the brakes and see if that triggers the lamp. You can hit the reset button to clear lamp malfunction warnings to allow several tests.

No, it is only lamp failure, no any other messages or warnings. It is 2002 e430.
Brake lamps seem to be fine, warning is triggering by starting engine only, reset helps only in the same engine starting period, so next time the warning will come up, regardless previous reset.
I think it is diagnostic system malfunction itself.
Anyway, thanks for help.

Check the fuses in the dash side panel. I kept getting the same and it turned out that the fuse holder was not tight enough on the reversing lights fuse (back up lights I think you call them).

Mine gave the same error - after racking my brain, and looking countless times with others, foot wells etc. (just to make sure I wasn't losing it) my resourcefull wife found if for me as she checked her makeup at night before going into a restaurant. No vanity light under her visor. Knew she was good for something!!!!!
