Steering lock problem - please help
When all is said and done, I am going to know my way around the SLK230 Steering Lock, which is quite a bit different from the W210 that Jonssen addressed in his PDF. It can be done without removing the whole steering lock assembly. If anyone needs help pulling a r170 tumbler, I will do my best to keep up with the example that the board members set in helping me.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
You are only posting this rebuff because I didn't send it to you. And the reason for that was because you claimed you had neither removed the key-lock barrel nor the ignition switch and it's cover and that you were able to start the car normally. So that would mean Mercedes had designed an anti-theft system where someone could get in, start the vehicle and drive off with the steering locked. Does that sound likely? No, of course not. (In fact the system is mechanically interlocked to prevent just that from happening!)N.B. My solution is the the steering lock depicted. It does not relate to other locks!

Drill two 13/64" holes in the lower part of your steering lock (as in Figure 1), Drill 1 as close to the aluminum column housing as possible, drill the 2nd hole about 1/2" to the right of the first hole, insert a long flatblade screwdriver through the keyhole in the dash into the steering lock (as in Figure 2), take 2 pointed picks and insert each pick into the 2 holes you drilled (as in Figure 3), walk the internal locking mechanism away from the steering column until it stops, hold the internal mechanism with 1 pick, while holding internal mechanism with pick push in on your screwdriver all the way back ( about 3/8" ) then let up about 1/8" and turn screwdriver clockwise until you feel the tension turning the lock (then you can release your pick), you will have to turn the screwdriver until the center slotted piece that your screwdriver is in will stay in position by it self, then remove your screwdriver and check the position of the center slot, it should be lined up with the 2 push-in release pins that hold the ignition switch in (as in Figure 4), check your steering wheel, it should be unlocked at this time, now you are ready to install your ingnition switch. I have a mercedes w210 CDI 2001 model.I had a breakdown with intstrument cluster, then I changed, but it is show up'' Steering gear oil Visit Workshop''.
I looked for fluid everything is OK. Fluid does not spend, no leak. I have changed fluid, but still is show up this sign.
Can someone help me about this please?
I am new to this so do excuse me if i am in the wrong area.
My E200 Elegance has locked up on the steering wheel and the flip remote key will not start the ignition :-(
The car has power as the unlock/lock works fine and so do the head/fog lights.
Having read the posts on here does anyone have a solution for this problem &/experienced this? If so then advice on how to troubleshoot this myself (instead of being ripped off by the a**hole whom sold me the car) would be greatly appreciated.
I have emailed the individual for the PDF but not sure as to if i will get!
Many thanks
