Steering wheel adjustment not working

Hello,
I was working on my car the other day, and needed to adjust my steering wheel position to move around easier in the car. I retracted the steering wheel the farthest it can be toward the dash. I tried to adjust it back to my normal driving position later and the adjustment does not work now. I only hear a clicking noise coming from the steering column when I press the adjustment button.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or what is wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thank you,

may have gone past the point of the last gear.will it lower?lower it to the lowest position and gently pull towards you while using the adjustment, if the wheel will not move in any position check the fuse.

The wheel won't lower or move at all. Does anyone know which fuse it would be? Thanks,

As always, thanks Ohlord!

No need. I found the fuse list on benzworld.

If you hear clicking it is most likely not a fuse. There is a plastic coupling in the mechinism internally and that may have failed and may need to be replaced.

I haven't checked the fuse yet, and I am hearing a clicking noise. What is the procedure for checking the plastic coupling?

Believe you must disassemble the mechanism. On the W210 that I had with this failure I could hear the motor running very faintly when the lever was held in one of the positions. Had the dealer fix it, do not remember the cost but it was insignficant.

It looks like the adjustment motor is on the column underneath, and you may be able to access it just by removing the lower dash panel.
