CLEAR fog lens replacement instead of the OEM.
One of my fog light lens is cracked...so are there clear lens available for the W210 for a quick replacement? If there is one available, would it be too bright and would it blind on comming traffic or a different bulb replacement required?

if you currently have the fluted, OEM fog lights and are thinking of simply
replacing it with a clear lens (the front glass portion only), it is a good idea
but it may not work.
ifyou look carefully through the fluted lens now, you'll see that it occludes
direct view of the partial reflector behind it. if you replace the fluted outer
lens with a clear lens, then all the ugly stuff behind it shows as well. not
too pretty, especially those on the 96-99 E models
so, pop off your fluted lens and see if you'd be satisfied with the revealing
all the stuff behind it.
however, there still is another challenge: locating just the clear lens itself
isnt' going to be easy. these are usually sourced as whole headlight assemblies,
an avg of $150-250 on ebay. these are all Asian aftermarket and their light
projecting qualities are.....mediocre, to say the least. you may also find that
the light adjustment knob has limited range.

Get
the oem lens.Diy replacement on benzworld.org
install selective wave length yellow euro spec fog bulbs from
www.danielsternlighting.com
fogs are for fog and rain at night, not for show, and clear lenses or 8000k bulbs defeat the purpose, blind other drivers, and look ricey.

I saw some replacement fog units (entire assembly) on a website...
I believe it was myhotmercedes.com or something like that..
Anyway I suspect they the cheap aftermarket stuff...which I don't want.
They even have the amber unit that Ohlord is talking about..but it is probably better and cheaper to just replace the bulbs that he was talking about and use the OEM assembly. I got to look into this.
Does the amber color fog lights look nice on the w210? wonder why MB did not do this in the first place?
