I am planning to change the coolant in my 1997 E320. Can some one tell me the step by step "how to do it" procedure please? I also like to know the exect location of the engine block for draining the coolant. If anyone post the picture it will be really helpfull.
Thanks in advance

-Take off the front, plastic belly pans
-Look underneath of the car on the front, driver's side of the radiator. There should be a little red knob. This is the draining plug.
-Above the draining plug, there should be a "nipple" that faces towards the passenger cabin. This is where the fluid is going to come out once you turn the red knob.
-Find a rubber hose that secures to the "nipple", and then into a bucket/jug
-Take off your reservoir cap
-Turn the red knob, and the radiator will drain. Caution- Do not turn the red plug too much or it will come out and fluid will also drain out of there too.

![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
1. After draining the radiator, do i need to empty the bottle too or it will come out through the radiator without starting the car???
2. I know Coolant doesn't come out from the engine block without starting the car. So how do i drain the coolant from the engine block and where is it located?
3. Can I drain the radiator and then starting filling the water in the bottle with the hose and start the engine it will remove the coolant from the engine block. Then stop filling the water and start filling the new coolant while engine running and when I start seeing the new coolant coming out from the radiator then close the radiator cap and keep filling the new coolant while engine is running. Is there any thing wrong with this procedure??
4. After draining the coolant, do i need to fill up the water and drive couple of days before filling the new coolant or it is no necessary?

I think the M104 has the drain behind the exhaust manifold.
You will get air settling out after the refill, but it shouldn't be a problem.
Make sure to use MB orange coolant or you will get accelerated corrosion.

How much coolant is left over in the engine block after fluching it out using the valve from the radiator? Is it enough that you SHOULD do the engine block as well if you are flushing the coolant?

You
can loosen the drain or remove the lower hose and put a gargen hose in the coolant tank and run it while the engine idles and that will move all the old stuff out of the block.Fill with 50/50 mix and add a bottle of redline water wetter to the coolant tank to fill to the line.

%0/50 mix anti freeze
and a bottle of redline water wetter![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
it lubricates the water pump and increases contact of the coolant in the water passages making the cooling system more efficient.
sold at any good parts store
