soon to be driving a E320 or E420
97 E320 to 00-02 specs
im planing on getting 97 e-class and i want to bring it to 00-02 specs like the steering wheel head and taillights etc. can that be done (besides the head and taillights which you can do) and can the steering wheel still be able th control the radio? and another question does anyone know of any good air suspension kits and can i see some pic of the e-class on them? thanks

wheel won't work.Air suspension Ca. company 5g before labor,just drop it with springs,whole car is not worth 5grand.
Lights,bags,custom steering wheel,bumpers,body kit.You could buy an E55.
If you are not happy with the 6 banger save your money and pick up a facelift model of newer vintage.

Why don't you just buy a 2000-2002 E320? Prices are now very reasonable.
With this you will get Less headache, real update, factory fixed some issues.

Why would you want air suspension?
The air bladder shocks are over $800 each just by themselves, and that's wholesale. And they need to be replaced as often as regular shocks.

Agree with the other posters in this thread. If you want the look of an 00-02 just buy an 00-02. By the time you swap out all the parts it will cost more then just buying the facelift to begin with. If you can find a Carlsson or Wald front bumper for the 96-99 you can have a close to facelift look without changing out the grille, headlights, (I think the fenders??) and all the other small brackets, nicknacks, and doohickeys.
